A lot of the larger vacation rental management companies can't provide personalized service that's unique to you and your home.

Because personalized service doesn't scale well, and growth is a top priority for these sizable companies.

Think about a typical public school classroom: there are dozens of students and only one teacher. Some children don't get the help they need because the teacher simply doesn't have the capacity to meet the unique needs of each child.

Large management companies can't deliver personalized service.

On the other hand, there are co-hosts you can find that might be helpful, but they sometimes lack the professionalism of those who were born and bred in the hospitality industry.

What you'll often find is that one person started an AirBnB rental management company and just stopped there: at AirBnB. While that's actually a good starting place, there's a lot more to managing a short-term rental property than simply listing it on AirBnB. It's like the difference between a food truck and a Four Diamond restaurant.

Co-hosts and freelancers can't deliver
professional service.

There's also the option of doing everything yourself but unless you plan to make vacation rental management your part-time job, you won't generate as much income as you would if you hired a professional management company.

The result: you'll do more work and make less money.

Savvy Vacation Rental Management lives in that sweet spot, where you get all the benefits of owning a vacation home without any of the headache or hassle.

Our Origin Story

Historical Timeline of Savvy Vacation Rental Management, a Full-Service Property Management Company that runs Short-Term Rentals, AirBnbs, and Private EstatesSavvy Vacation Rental Management

We booked our first AirBnB as a guest in 2014 and were immediately impressed at how seamless the experience was. In just a few swipes of a finger, we could book a vacation home for the night without dealing with the hassle of checking in at the front desk, swiping credit cards, signing waivers and all the other minutiae associated with the typical hotel experience.

“This is different,” we thought... “These guys are definitely onto something.”

So AirBnB became the first choice for our travel accommodations. Around that same time, Uber started gaining a lot of traction and rolling out their services in many different markets across the country. All of a sudden, in just a few swipes of a finger, we could book a taxi that would arrive in minutes.

“What is this black magic?!” Just a few years earlier, the thought of putting your kid in the back of a car with a complete strange was absurd. Now it was one of the most popular means of transportation.

It seemed like new apps were popping up every day, each with their own unique twist on enhancing the traveling experience.

So we booked our flights using Skyscanner, drove to the airport in an Uber, rented a car using Turo, booked a room on Airbnb, took care of business at WeWork, then hit the waves with a surfboard from Quiver.

Turns out all these platforms were the seeds of something much bigger: the Sharing Economy.

These apps helped people discover untapped goldmines and all we needed to do was grab a pickaxe. When we told our friends and family about it, they didn’t really “get it.”

But we did, so we started making moves...

In 2015, we posted our first AirBnB listing, long before the platform was a household name. At that time, it was mostly an experiment. But it didn’t take long for us to realize that renting vacation homes (or even a spare bedroom) could be much more than a side-gig.

In 2017, we got curious about investing in vacation rental properties. After some market research, we decided on Nashville, one of the best markets for vacation home rental agencies at the time.

In 2018, we bought our first home and spent about three months setting everything up before hosting our first reservation. The property started generating $10-15k per month within the first couple of months!

When we told our friends and family about that, they started to get it. That's when we realized money was a common language that everyone understood. So we started sharing stories about how much we were making from our “side-hustle,” and people would say, “Wow, can you do that for me, too?”

Here we are, years later, a small group of hospitality professionals helping people Stay Savvy through fun, easy, profitable vacation rental management.

What it Means to "Stay Savvy"

The word “savvy” is rooted in one’s ability to know; to understand; to practice good judgment and act on experiential knowledge.

Those who are “tech-savvy” are proficient with technology; they know how to wield it in useful, productive ways.

The same sentiment applies to our property management services. We know how to turn your short-term rental property into a great source of passive income. We're proficient both in real estate and hospitality, and vacation rentals live at the intersection of these two domains.

As we were traveling the world with our backpacks and briefcases, we started to see how the entire travel industry was transitioning, becoming faster, easier, and more affordable with the help of innovative technology.

The whole scene is reminiscent of the change we saw with smartphones. One day there were Blackberries with full keyboards; the next day there were iPhones with no buttons at all.

And then it dawned on us: if the travel and tourism industry was in the midst of a grand transformation, we were going to be right there riding the wave.

Powered by technology, good judgment, and real-world experience, we decided to build Savvy Vacation Rental Management around this transition. What started out as a new way to travel soon blossomed into an entirely new way to manage the places we were actually traveling to.

We thought about how amazing it would be if we could travel anywhere in the world with a small backpack: just a toothbrush, a laptop, and a handful of clothes...

What if we could simply arrive at our destination and have everything we’d ever need or want?

What if we could stay in a place that was just as comfortable as our own home and also get the quality and service of a 5-star hotel?

This is the vision we had when we started Savvy, and it’s the vision we bring to life with each vacation home we manage. Whether you’re a traveler or an owner (or both), Staying Savvy means experiencing the warmth of hospitality in a way that make you wonder, “Why hasn’t it always been like this?”

As we continue to grow our vacation home rental agency, we strive to be a model for what's possible not only for vacation rental management companies but also for the hospitality industry at large.

As our company has grown, so have our service offerings. We've evolved to accommodate the needs of our owners and found that they feel most supported when we take it all off their plate, handling everything related to the vacation rental business.

Property Management Services

Why Savvy?

When you give your keys to Savvy, you get the keys to the future—your future. A future where you get to enjoy all the benefits of owning a vacation home without any of the hassle of communicating with guests, scrubbing toilets, or scheduling service staff.

It doesn't take long for owners to realize that property management isn’t just a business to us. It’s a responsibility, a duty to make the most with what we’ve been given.

In a sense, we consider ourselves stewards of the sharing economy because we operate our business less like a traditional property management company and more like an asset management company...

We take under-utilized assets like vacation homes, raw land, cars, boats, and RVs, and turn them into  profitable rental products using innovative technology and best-in-class hospitality.

Savvy Vacation Rental Management (Savvy VRM) makes it easy to own a vacation home

We’re a small business with a big job: to make your life easier.

And if we're doing our job effectively, travelers are having incredible experiences while you're printing money without ever lifting a finger.

Our full-service property management solutions makes it easy for you to own a short-term rental property. We don’t believe you should have to pay for a vacation home. Instead, we're convinced your vacation home should be paying you.

By choosing to work with Savvy, you not only get your time back, you also save on various costs through our exclusive vendor partnerships. Each supplier is different but our relationships give you access to fantastic discounts with some of the most popular brands:

Some of the suppliers that provide exclusive discounts to Savvy Vacation Rental Management including Brooklinen, Home Depot, and Williams Sonoma

Working with Savvy is not like a typical customer-client relationship. It’s more like a partnership, a professional relationship that exceeds the borders of our profession. We take the time to understand our owners, learn about their families, their challenges and goals, and then work towards a plan that enhances their lives.

Why do we take this approach? Because we know that we’re in this together. The way our business is structured, your success is our success.

In the property management industry, it’s not uncommon to see homeowners sticking with the same company for 10+ years. This is partly due to the timeline of real estate investments. But there’s also an element of synergy.

As with many relationships, business or otherwise, when you find something that works well, you do what you can to keep it going.

How We Work

What should you expect when you partner with Savvy Vacation Rental Management? We have a few key operational pillars that fortify our business, ensuring that you get stellar service and unparalleled results.

We train our team and the people we work with to be:

Something you should know about vacation rental management is that it’s a hospitality business. And hospitality is an operation that runs 365 days a year.

When families go on vacation over the holidays, someone has to tend to their needs. Our staff is always available to care for guests and your vacation home. We offer 24/7 Guest Services and have local support staff on call in case any emergencies pop up (like when a septic backs up at 1:00am).

Availability gets you in the game, but it doesn’t necessarily solve any problems. That’s where resourcefulness comes in.

We use an extensive database of resources to effectively manage our short-term rental properties including message templates, pictures and how-to videos, inspection checklists, owner notes and preferences, and much more. These resources—paired with robust, industry-leading software tools—is what gives us the ability to make your short-term rental property a smashing success.

If anyone tells you they’re not going mess up at some point, run the opposite way as fast as as you can! We’re all human, which means we’re not perfect. Rather than denying it, we embrace our shortcomings and use it to our advantage.

When something doesn’t go as expected, or when technology glitches, or something gets overlooked, we don’t sit around pointing fingers. We take immediate action to remedy the situation and build preventative solutions so we're better prepared if it happens again in the future. Our strong feedback systems encourage all team members to spot opportunities for improvement and be proactive (our owners are also part of this process).

Above all, and perhaps most importantly, we operate with a positive, friendly attitude that keeps guests coming back year after year.
