Short-term rental properties are only allowed in certain areas and, yes, Joshua Tree is one of them. However, the city does not necessarily have a tight grip on STRs here. Instead, you’ll obtain your vacation rental permit through San Bernardino county.
We do 100% of the work for 20-30% of the earnings. Our revenue share model aligns our incentives so we only get paid when you do. We’re not the cheapest solution but remember, you get what you pay for.
It’s not uncommon for a 2-3 bedroom rental in Joshua Tree to earn upwards of $80,000 in booking revenue in a single year. In order to achieve this, you’ll want to provide a competitive product (i.e. pet-friendly, stocked amenities, etc.) and a great guest experience (which is where we come in).
We have a laundry list of indicators that let us know whether a guest is up to no good (and further, if they’re even a real traveler or a scam artist).
Some of the steps we take may include collecting IDs, renter agreements, and security deposits on valid credit cards. We also look at online profiles and pre-screen guests that don’t meet certain criteria on some of the booking platforms like Airbnb or Vrbo.
We also watch for more subtle cues that raise any red flags like whether they’re local, why they’re traveling, and even how they communicate with us over text or phone. Of course, like those sanitizer solutions that never quite hit 100%, we can’t filter out all the bad apples. But rest assured, we know exactly what to do if something goes wrong.

STR Rules for Joshua Tree
Did you know that short-term rentals aren’t regulated by officials who oversee Joshua Tree? It’s actually San Bernardino County that draws lines around what you can and cannot do with your vacation rental property. For example, according to the County’s STR rules, there are structural limitations (i.e. no Yurts can be a short-term rental), as well as geographic limitations.
If your vacation home qualifies, getting a permit is pretty straightforward and can be done online. The county isn’t as strict as other cities like Palm Springs but you’ll still want to be aware of the ordinances.
